Understanding Graphs and Interpreting Data

From textbooks, newspapers and research papers to politics, public policies and memes-graphs are everywhere. By conveying information visually, they help us make meaning of the world around us. Yet they are often taught as merely technical tools rather than powerful forms of communication.

This module presents graphs as a trans-disciplinary communication tool by introducing the basic principles upon which graphs are developed, and explores their relevance through a multitude of real-world examples. It also aims to help the reader learn how to make, read, and interpret graphs meaningfully.

Designed primarily for high school teachers and students, this module will serve as a resource material helping in building visual literacy and encouraging a more critical and thoughtful engagement with data.
